About Balasaheb Thackeray Middle Vaitarna Dam

The newest addition to the system, completed in 2012 at roughly ₹3,500 crore. At 102.4m it is one of the tallest roller-compacted concrete dams in India, built in Mokhada, Palghar on the Vaitarna river between the upper and lower dams. A 33km underground tunnel connects it to the Bhandup supply grid. It added 455 MLD — about 13.4% of Mumbai's supply.
